A striking expression of Ghanaian craftsmanship, this sculptural basket is handwoven from elephant grass by Gurunsi artisans in Bolgatanga, Northern Ghana. Each piece is shaped slowly by hand, drawing on a weaving tradition carried through generations.

The natural sophistication of the piece is emphasized through its intricate black-and-natural pattern, while the finely woven body opens into loose, flowing fibres at the top. This collective of weavers in Northern Ghana has elevated the art of basketry to another level. The subtle mix of colours, the perfect finishings and the joyful vibes of the artisans pair with the extraordinary shapes they have developed.

Elephant grass

All baskets are made from a fiber called Elephant grass that traditionally comes from Southern Ghana, it gets dyed, then twisted and eventually artistically woven into the most incredible shapes.
