Handwoven throws and cushion covers from Addis Ababa, made by a fair-trade certified, woman-led textile workshop with around 250 artisans. The cotton is grown in Ethiopia and spun by hand at home by more than a hundred spinners, so the thread varies slightly in thickness and gives the cloth its soft, irregular surface.
The weavers work on looms operated by hand and foot. Some use four or eight harnesses instead of the traditional two, which makes patterns such as herringbone possible. Our throws measure 130 × 200 cm, large enough for the length of a sofa or the end of a bed; the cushion covers come in 50 × 50 cm, lined and with a hidden zip.
Layered in calm tones or used as a single accent, they bring texture and warmth to any room.
