Further Curatorial, Design and Artistic work

Before founding 'Based upon a true story' and while still engaged in a corporate career, I had started supporting artists through curatorial and advisory work, exhibitions and PR.

Between 2021 and mid-2026, I ran 'Based upon a true story' besides my role as Marketing Head of an Interior Architecture group, allowing me to gain insights into the potential of crafts for the Hospitality, Offices or Residential sectors.

In 2025-26, with my friend and project-partner Adil Iqbal, we obtained a grant for the realization of our Textile Art Installation "White Gold" with embroidery artisans in Pakistan.

A person stands with their back to the camera in a vast mountain valley, wearing a long cream and gold patterned robe or cloak. Snow-capped mountains and a rocky riverbed stretch out in the background under an overcast sky.

2025-2026: Collaborative Textile Art installation 'White Gold' in the Hindukush, Northern Pakistan

Together with my Scottish-Pakistani partner Adil Iqbal, Designer and Anthropologist, we conceived and realised a Textile Art Installation over the course of two years, working with artisans in the Hindukush.

The artwork comprises three traditional shepherd cloaks made from 'shu', an indigenous wool and endangered craft  woven by the remote mountainous communities and embroidered with gold thread.
The illustrations for the cloaks were realized in collaboration with us by the amazing Alice Shirley.
