Woven by hand in Bolgatanga, Northern Ghana, this striking oversized basket is crafted from locally sourced elephant grass by skilled Gurunsi artisans. Its bold zigzag pattern is woven using hand-dyed fibers, strand by strand, creating a dynamic graphic rhythm that flows around the entire form.

This collective of weavers in Northern Ghana has elevated the art of basketry to another level. The subtle mix of colours, the perfect finishings and the joyful vibes of the artisans pair with the extraordinary shapes they have developed.

Elephant grass

All baskets are made from a fiber called Elephant grass that traditionally comes from Southern Ghana, it gets dyed, then twisted and eventually artistically woven into the most incredible shapes.

Derived from traditional basketry, the artisans have developed their own signature baskets and weave them bringing in their personality, rich creativity and a sense of colour that stuns us.
