Lubombo Lamp

The Lubombo Table Lamp combines a bold, tapered base with a softly rounded shade, creating a sculptural silhouette in matte black. Inspired by the trunk of the baobab tree, its base has an organic, architectural quality, while the soft gold interior of the shade casts a warm, atmospheric glow.

Named after the Lubombo Mountains in eastern Eswatini, the lamp is handcrafted in a woman-led workshop from discarded newspapers transformed into paper pulp. Each piece is shaped by hand and carefully finished, preserving the fine, tactile grain of the material beneath its deep black surface. Subtle variations in texture make every lamp unique.

With its distinctive form and considered use of recycled materials, the Lubombo works as both a functional light and a design object. Place it on a side table, console or bedside table to bring sculptural character and warm, ambient lighting to the interior.

Fitted with a textile cable and switch to European CE standards.

The artisans behind your product

Our partner

The woman-led social enterprise in Eswatini (formerly Swaziland) crafts superb objects entirely made from 100% waste newspaper from a local magazine distributor. Experimental yet profoundly anchored in the majestic archetypical shapes of the African Continent, it manifests the encounter of imagination and heritage.

A unique texture

While the collection looks like ceramics, every object is crafted from the paper pulp made in the workshop, then sundried during 4-6 weeks before it reaches us. The irregular texture and the colours originate from the landscapes of Southern Africa, giving the sculptural objects a strong presence and timelessness.
