Large Garlic Gourd

Handwoven from Ilala palm by women artisans in rural Zimbabwe, these garlic gourds come in natural tones and rich, plant-dyed chocolate hues. Their distinctive form is part of a weaving tradition recognised across Africa.

The rounded, organic shape gives each piece a strong presence in an interior. They can be styled with seagrass or other natural materials, or left unadorned to highlight the weave and form.

Our partner

Three different group of women artisans from the regions of Binga, Matabeleland and Hwange National Park with several hundred women each have been collaborating with our female-founded partner for many decades.

Gift of Nature

Made from Ilala Palm and coloured with plant dyes, the baskets are naturally beautiful and expressive. The brightly coloured baskets upcycle the threads from the grain sacks to the most unique graphic pieces, which can be combined to stunning Wall Art installations.

There are no two same baskets and this is what charms us! Patterns change, weaving varies and tiny details will show the human imprint on every basket. The finishings and quality are superb - we also collaborate on larger projects for hospitality or gastronomy lighting.
