With its generous, ribbed silhouette and elegantly tapered neck, the Large Garlic Gourd Basket is a sculptural expression of natural materials and traditional craftsmanship. Inspired by the rounded form of a garlic bulb, its distinctive proportions bring an understated, organic elegance to the interior.

Handwoven by women artisans in Matabeleland, Zimbabwe, each basket is made from Ilala palm, a natural fibre deeply rooted in the region’s weaving traditions. The natural version reveals the palm’s warm, golden tones, while the chocolate version offers a deeper, more dramatic finish achieved with plant dyes. Passed down through generations, the art of palm weaving is reflected in the precision, patience and individuality of every piece.

Beautifully sculptural on its own, the Large Garlic Gourd Basket makes a striking floor accent. Display it individually or group different tones together to create a considered arrangement. Its tactile surface and timeless silhouette bring warmth, depth and natural character to both contemporary and classic interiors.

Three different group of women artisans from the regions of Binga, Matabeleland and Hwange National Park with several hundred women each have been collaborating with our female-founded partner for many decades.

Made from Ilala Palm and coloured with plant dyes, the baskets are naturally beautiful and expressive. The brightly coloured baskets upcycle the threads from the grain sacks to the most unique graphic pieces, which can be combined to stunning Wall Art installations.

There are no two same baskets and this is what charms us! Patterns change, weaving varies and tiny details will show the human imprint on every basket. The finishings and quality are superb - we also collaborate on larger projects for hospitality or gastronomy lighting.

Made from Ilala Palm, these wonderfully shaped garlic gourds are made by the weavers of Matabeleland. Organically coloured to chocolate hues, they seduce us with their various shapes and organic vibes.
