Together with Sara Collins (Ethical Production Consultant), we collaborated with the beaders of Beadworks Kenya, a fair-trade-certified kenyan social enterprise, to co-create a jewellery collection.
Working with Star Beaders from the nearby conservancies, we developed the name and design for this collection together. It was a lovely process of sharing what it meant to create a collection for women on another continent and what we would like to instill into the jewellery.
When the beaders told us that working with beads gives them a feeling of Unity, it became the starting point for the design. We were keen for this connection to reflect in the colour palette: in the way different shades of blue come together, symbolizing the movement of women towards one another. It also stands for the Unity of women across the globe from the artisans who make the jewellery to the women who wear it and feel connected.
A collaborative process:
The process is fundamentally different when you do not arrive with a finished design that simply needs to be executed, but instead engage in genuine co-creation. We really loved the days we spent together, experimenting on patterns and techniques - most of all having time to engage around a collection that mattered to us all.
In October 2026, The Unity Collection launches in Europe.
Handmade in Kenya, The Unity Collection is not only a beautiful jewellery collection — it is a tribute to Heritage craft, to strength, resilience and creative talent. It is a celebration of what women can achieve when they unite to craft a better world.
