Xenia von Poser

Founder and Project Lead

Xenia founded „based upon a true story“ in summer 2021 for change-makers who seek ways to enhance their corporate values. She believes that by conceiving creative and strategic partnerships between brands and artisans, brands can make a huge impact - and tell the wonderful, true stories behind their products. Stories that add value to a brand, to a business, to artisans´ lives. Xenia grew up in Paris in a multi-cultural family (French, German, Russian). During her studies at the European Business School she worked for Yves Saint Laurent and Fortnum & Mason. In the past 20 years she has been in charge for increasing brands´ equity through communications and marketing for a multitude of clients, such as Montblanc, Swarovski and Apple.

Claudia Blum

Interior Designer

After graduating as an engineer, Claudia worked in Spain and Italy before joining star architect Matteo Thun from 2001 - 2005. In 2005 she founds Studio Architects with her partner - together they design and plan individual interior concepts for hotels, galleries and exclusive private homes. Claudia´s signature is creativity paired with accuracy, internationality and breathtaking original and bold designs. She has a faible for Hella Jongerius´ weaving techniques and exquisite natural materials - Claudia will be working with us on all interior design assignments.

Hedvig Alexander

Sourcing and Artisan Relationships

Hedvig is a Danish Army Captain and Yale graduate. She brings in a wealth of experience on working with artisans, starting from when she was the Managing Director of the renowned Turquoise Mountain Foundation in Kabul. She led Building Markets adding 1.6% to Afghan GDP (‘06) and founded The Pin Project for refugees. Hedvig also set up the Far + Wide Collective, an online platform with a network of 5,000 suppliers, 400 retailers in 18 countries. As the CCO and co-founder of PoweredbyPeople, Hedvig is our partner and counsellor on artisan relationships and sourcing.

The Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Unesco protects vanishing crafts across all continents as an expression of the world´s cultural wealth. Over centuries tribes and remote communities have mastered exceptional skills and passed them along from one generation to the next. Be it the colourful Maasai beading, the magical lost wax casting from the ancient Akan Kingdom, the afghan mastering of handbown lapis-coloured glass, the expressive Touareg´s rug-tying or the delicate central asian suzani embroideries, to name a few. We engage to keep them alive and prospering.

Many brands are looking for ways to make a  positive impact by searching for new ways to operate, which are aligned with their corporate values. Associating with artisans is the solution we propose.

We work with several hundred artisan collectives and small enterprises around the globe, very often in the most remote areas. As all products are handmade, they can be customized by nature. They are made sustainably as the artisans work with natural fibers growing in their surroundings and organic dyes. Abiding by the principles of fair trade and ensuring dignified working conditions goes without saying.

Whether it is a fashion accessory, a T-shirt or a tableware item – its value is closely linked to the spirit of the makers and the mindfulness of the approach.
